Isildur, son of Elendil
Apr. 17th, 2004 04:24 pmOkay, this is my first attempt at posting anything of substance...the same day I started my LJ...meh. I do what I want, and when I want to!
So, I was doing some thinking on the similarties between Isildur and Boromir. You recall Boromir, right? Tired to take the ring from Frodo, got ARROWED! to death? Well, I can't help but wonder why Isildur, the man who stole his way into the Court of the Tree and took a sicon of it would take the One.
Well, my theory is that Isildur's reason, besides the obvious Wereguild point, just wished for the strength to defend the Dunedain in exile. He might've looked at what Sauron did to both Gil-Galad, King of the Noldor in exile, and Elendil, high King of the Dunedain in exile, and saw something both fair to its allies and terrible to its enemies. Now, if Isildur wanted to both defend his people and increase his own glory, in much the same manner as Boromir, it would seem sensible that he would want the One.
Anyways, that's my theory, and I'm sticking to it. At least unless someone can shoot so many holes in it that it makes it impossible to hold up.
